Kouremenos Beach:

Sirines Studios area and Kouremenos BeachThe road to Kouremenos beach from Sirines Studios is good. The part that travels the length of the beach is not paved, althought easily nagotiated by any car. Low trees can provide shade for parked cars near the beach. Sea water is excellent and inviting for swimming.

It is one of the well-known and best beaches in Eastern Crete and it is also a favorite spot for windsurfing.

 

 

Chiona Beach:

Chiona Beach

Chiona or Hiona beach is a very nice beach 1000m far from Sirines Studios, with a very gentle sandy slope. It is located withing walking distance from the Palekastro (Rousolakos or Elia) archaeological site.

Admission to the site is free and the site can be easily navigated in about half hour. Most of the artifacts found at Rousolakos are exhibited at the Sitia Archaeological Museum.

Several low trees provide shade for bathers and parked cars.

 

Palm Beach Vai:

Palm Beach VaiThe palm beach of Vai is one of the largest attractions of the Mediterranean island of Crete and is located 7km far from the Sirines Studios. It features the largest natural palm forest in Europe, made up of Cretan Date Palm (Phoenix Theophrasti).

At the beginning of the 1980s Vai was full of backpacker tourists from the whole world, leading to a mixture of chaotic campground and garbage dump. Vai was enclosed and declared as a protected area. The unique forest recovered, the beach became clean.

The palm beach, which belongs to the Moni Toplou, is the touristic center of East Crete, with thousands of visitors each year. Vai lies close to Palekastro, Sitia and the Dionysades islands.
